It’s fall in Atlanta. Do you know how I know? I’ve been drinking a lot of high-gravity beer, soup seems more appetizing and thousands of Atlanta-based University of Georgia grads spend Saturdays drunk in the Classic City. Also, there are scarecrows in the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Yeah, I buried the lead. Say something.

From now until Oct. 31, over 100 scarecrows lovingly crafted by various organizations and individuals are on display at the Garden. It’s definitely a kid-friendly affair— special activities for children are planned during weekends, culminating in a parade on Sunday, Oct. 26.— but adults can partake in Fest-of-Ale (beer! music! scarecrows!) each Thursday evening.

Although the Garden has already bestowed awards on two scarecrows— professional and non-professional design awards to Fernbank and KMA One, respectively— we at Paste:Local have so much more love to give. Behold our list of scarecrow superlatives:

Most likely to read “Alternadad”: “Mummy and Me” by Atlanta Parent Magazine

Most likely to kill you in your sleep: “Lilacrow” by McGiboney

Most menacing use of straw as nostril hair: “Chef Cook Crow” by Avante Catering

Most esoteric: “Die Krahescheuche” (of course it’s a German name)
