Just two weeks ago, we gave you word of major casting news for Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Now, the Hollywood Reporter has announced that Burton has a new addition to his cast and it's one of his brothers in weird, Crispin Glover.
Those already announced for the project (reportedly due in 2010) are Mia Wasikowska (In Treatment) as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen.
Glover will play the Knave of Hearts. Maybe not ringing a bell? The Knave is the character accused by the Queen for stealing her tarts, and is sent to trial. Alice and the Mad Hatter stand up to save him, but the matter is never resolved before Alice wakes up from her dream.
As both a fantastic actor and the only cast member familiar with motion capture (from his role in Beowulf), Glover is a welcome addition to the varied team. And though, ironically enough, Glover poked fun of Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a role in Epic Movie (pictured above), we're thinking there are no hard feelings. In fact, it may have been Depp himself that suggested Glover for the part, as they are friends from way back to their What's Eating Gilbert Grape days.
