Tim McGraw on Curb: "I don't approve their message."

Despite country star Tim McGraw’s plans to put out another studio record this fall, Curb Records released Greatest Hits 3 last week. It features a mix of radio hits and live recordings, and according to McGraw, it’s completely unnecessary. Unfortunately, there’s nothing he can do about it...except voice his opposition.

Yesterday, McGraw issued a statement of apology to his fans for the fuss. “I’ve only had one studio album since my last hits package,” he said. “It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me. The whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist. In the spirit of an election year, I would simply say to my fans ‘I’m Tim McGraw and I don’t approve their message.’”

Makes you wonder how many greatest-hits compilations are artist-approved, and how many are labels’ attempts at squeezing every last drop of cash out of unsuspecting hit makers.
