Wes Craven creates Google logo for Halloween

| | Comments (0)
One of Wes Craven’s evergreen virtues is that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He's made some of the nastiest movies out there—The Hills Have Eyes, A Nightmare on Elm Street—and yet he also made a flick that ushered in years of parody horror, Scream. He’s an unabashed producer of remakes of his work, including a new Last House on the Left and Shocker. And he’ll be the first to tell you he got his start in porn.
For a man of his influence, his generosity is no small thing, and his fans continue to benefit in kind. In continuation of its special banner series, Google commissioned the genre veteran to design its logo this Halloween, a nice little emblem of macabre kitsch (above) that features a jack-o-lantern and a shovel in place of the o's and various blades spread around for good measure.

Google property YouTube also got the director to put together a hilariously low-rent themed video, in which he appears to endorse Barack Obama. None of it makes much sense, but given that we all have a workday to get through before we can go home and celebrate, why not? Links to the clips he mentions are on the YouTube homepage.
