Wu-Tang Clan plans Fall and Winter tour

October 28, 2008  |  1:44pm
It's been 10 years since the late Ol' Dirty Bastard bolted onstage during Shawn Colvin's Grammy acceptance speech to protest Wu-Tang's loss of Best Rap Album to Puff Daddy.  "When it comes to the children," he said, "Wu-Tang is for the children. We teach the children. Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best."

Comprised of teachers it may be, but Wu-Tang's lesson plans have always changed wildly. Solo careers, acting gigs, business deals, chess platforms, video games, book deals, clothing brands—these things eat on standardized class time. So it's always nice when the Clan goes back on tour, even if it's a while after its most recent album has come out.

Which is the case this time around with this and next year's tour in support of both last year's 8 Diagrams and a new documentary called Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan that premieres Nov. 13 on BET (scheduled for DVD release on Nov. 18). As per usual, there are some conflicts: Method Man will be with Redman for a time supporting their Blackout 2 disc, while GZA managed to keep his schedule mostly uncluttered.
