This Sunday, Nov. 9th, at 92Y, seminal designer Chip Kidd will chat up best-selling author and comic book icon Neil Gaiman on The Sandman, the author's benchmark comic book series, which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Recognized as one of the most innovative voices in graphic design, Kidd
is no stranger to the world of graphic art, having designed Frank
Miller's covers for the latest print run of Miller's Sin City series in
addition to countless other logos and visual identities for books featuring superheroes or otherwise.
The only comic book author to be awarded the World Fantasy Award, Gaiman's 10-volume Sandman epic recounts the tale of Morpheus, the anthropomorphic representation of dreams. In addition to supplying a steady barrage of best-selling fantasy books, Gaiman has also kept busy in the world of film with translations of his novels Stardust and the upcoming Coraline, directed by The Nightmare Before Christmas' Henry Selick. The renowned author also sports a fantastic British accent despite living in the midwest for the past decade.
