Former Drive-By Truckers guitarist Jason Isbell is set for the February 2009 release of an album with his new band, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. The self-titled full-length will drop via the Nashville-based label Lightning Rod Records.
The 400 Unit includes Derry deBorja (keyboards), Browan Lollar (guitar) and Jimbo Hart (bass). Matt Pence (South San Gabriel, Centro-Matic) acted as co-producer, engineer, and sometimes drummer.
This record follows up his 2007 solo release Sirens of the Ditch, which came out on New West, the Truckers' label. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit was recorded at the FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala., near Isbell's hometown.
"I want it to be known that it's a band record," Isbell said in a recent statement. "I want it to be known that it's something we all did together. Even though I wrote the songs, it was a very inclusive project."
The album's lead-off track, "Seven-Mile Island," is now available now on Isbell's MySpace page. Tracklist below:
1. Seven-Mile Island
