New year to bring new Bruce Springsteen album

Not only will the country see a new president come January in Barack Obama, but one of his biggest celebrity supporters—Bruce Springsteen—is aiming to release an album to coincide with his historic inauguration.

Springsteen has been tireless in his support of Obama at rallys the past few weeks, essentially confirming he bleeds red, white and blue. (Born in the U.S.A., indeed.) Billboard reports the album is likely to include "Workin' on a Dream," a song Springsteen recently debuted at an Obama rally in Ohio, as well as leftover material from Springsteen's 2007 much-raved record Magic. No other information is known at this point.

In the meantime, fans of The Boss can check out another new track of his attached to the upcoming Darren Aronofsky-directed film The Wrestler, generating Oscar buzz for its star Mickey Rourke and for Springsteen's titular song. If nominated for best original song, Springsteen could appear back-to-back on two of the most highly televised events of 2009: the Super Bowl (where he's performing at halftime) and the Academy Awards. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. The Wrestler hits theaters in select cities Dec. 17.
