Peter Gabriel launches free streaming music service

Peter Gabriel knows what you like (in your wardrobe), and he's gonna prove it too. And really, who doesn't like free music?

Gabriel recently co-founded and launched We7, which offers free streaming of millions of tracks from four major labels and hundreds of independents. Tracks and albums will be available, in full, for free. (Rights holders and artists will be paid by We7 from advertising revenue.) Users can create their own playlists, buy music from the online store, and share recommendations with friends.

The frontpage reveals a catalog ranging from Christina Aguilera to T.I. to DragonForce to Thievery Corporation. In the wild west of the Internet there's no telling what will thrive and what will die off, but for now it's definitely worth a look.
