In Sept. 2007, we reported on the first news of the next Simon Pegg/Nick Frost collaboration, to be called Paul. At the time, all we knew about the film was that the Hot Fuzz stars' typical roles would be reversed: Frost would take the lead role and Pegg plays the incompetent sidekick. Or, as Pegg put it in an interview with MTV's movies blog, "It's different actually. I'm the bitch in this one."
Now we've learned that the film follows two British slackers (surprise, surprise) on a road trip across the States. They visit Comic-Con then travel out to Area 51, where they encounter an alien. Their new friend, Paul, wrangles the duo into helping him find his way home.
Edgar Wright, who directed Pegg/Frost flicks Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, will executive produce the film, which begins shooting in March. Pegg and Frost wrote the script, and Greg Mottola, of Superbad and Undeclared, will direct.
