The British Invasion may be long over, but The Kinks still know how to (really) get us going. Rumors have been buzzing for a while now on the possibility of a reunion, and it's starting to look like it just might happen.
The band has begun recording fresh material in anticipation of a reunion, frontman Ray Davies told the BBC: "We've started a little bit of this and that. But it is too early to judge the quality. It depends if there's good music. We want good new music. I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do."
It might be rough getting this one off the runway though: Davies confided that the tour hinges on the health of his brother, guitarist Dave Davies, who suffered a stroke in 2004. Ray also would have to shoehorn the reunion around a solo North American tour and collaborative album he's got in the works. Stay tuned.Related links:

Don't believe all you read in headlines about a KinKs Reunion...not yet anyway. It is still a possiblity but according to Dave Davies himself and he stated only a few days ago..." me and Ray have not even seen each other for a month or so. I have been really busy on "Mystical Journey" and
Ray has been busy on his show n stuff. there is so much to sort out before we can even open a guitar case-
we have exchanged a few emails but they are all mainly business things "
As fans and supporters of the KinKs, Dave and Ray, The important thing to remember is that we want the Kinks back only if for the right reasons and BOTH Ray and Dave want it equally...and new material is brought to the table. A reunited KinKs just for the sake of the fans and just for oldies and nostalgia sake would not be a good thing for anyone. The KinKs music has been and remains too important to have it reduced to that level.
