We've already reported on Antony and the Johnsons' new album, The Crying Light, due Jan. 20. Now, we have official U.S. tour dates courtesy of the ever-busy Mercury Prize-winning band.
Hegarty says the album is dedicated to 102-year-old Japanese dancer Kazuo Ohno, as evidenced by The Crying Light's cover art. "In
performance I watched him cast a circle of light upon the stage, and
step into that circle, and reveal the dreams and reveries of his heart," Hegarty said in a statement. "He seemed to dance in the eye of something mysterious and creative;
with every gesture he embodied the child and the feminine divine. He's
kind of like my art parent."
