Halo Trilogy soundtrack previews Halo Wars

With Halo 3 having been released last fall and Halo: Wars not on deck until until Feb. 2009, what do you get the Halo fanatic this Christmas? Microsoft and Sumthing Else Music Works hope to entice that audience with the release of the Halo Trilogy original soundtrack, a massive five-disc compilation of music from the first three games and a bonus disc previewing Halo Wars.

Available digitally or at various retailers as of yesterday (Dec. 2) for $29.99, the set includes: one disc of music from the original Halo, one from Halo 2, two discs from Halo 3, and a bonus DVD for Halo Wars, featuring four preview tracks, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the music, and the opening cinema scene of the game, entitled "Five Years Long." The award-winning music featured is composed by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori.

Halo Wars, meanwhile, is a real-time strategy spin-off of the main series developed by Ensemble Studios, instead of Bungie, responsible for the main Halo trilogy. The game, incidentally, will be the last project from the soon-to-be defunct studio. For a lengthy hands-on preview of the game, head over to 1UP.com.
