"Hello. Thank you for calling Neon Bible," begins the Arcade Fire’s new DVD, Miroir Noir. "For an important message from the founders of the Neon Bible program, please dial extention 7777 right now."
The 70-minute film intersperses musical performances—on stage, in the
studio, in a hotel corridor, backstage, on a balcony, in multiple
elevators—with messages left on their pre-release "Neon Bible" hotline
answering machine, along with tounge-in-cheek commercial spots for "the
Neon Bible" with testimonials such as, “Not believing the Neon Bible is
an unforgivable sin.”
The film, directed by Vincent Morisset and shot by Vincent Moon, is available via download now at miroir-noir.com in three different sizes from $5.99 to $13.99. The DVD version will ship before March 31, 2009, and is $15.99 for the single
edition or $29.99 for a Limited Edition that includes extras from the band’s Saturday Night Live and BBC performances and comes packaged in a linen-bound, accordion-folded art cover.
