Pearl Jam to reissue Ten in four different packages

In the decade-and-a-half since its release, Pearl Jam's Ten has sold nearly 12 million copies and is famous for popularizing Eddie Vedder, grunge and the flannel industry of North America. Now, Vedder & Co. are planning a March 2009 release of an expanded version of the album that set the gold standard for single-word song titles.

According to a press release, Pearl Jam will be reissuing Ten early next year in four packages. The reprint is part of a two year plan to re-release the band's discography, culminating with their twentieth anniversary in 2011.

Each version of the reissue will include a digitally remastered edition of Ten and a second version of the album remixed by Brendan O'Brien (of Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC production fame), as well as some bonus tracks and b-sides. Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, who designed Ten's original packaging, reprised his role as art designer for the four different versions of the album:

1. Legacy Edition (2-disc set)
2. Deluxe Edition (2-disc set plus DVD of Pearl Jam's MTV Unplugged set)
3. Vinyl Collection (2-LP set, no bonus tracks)
4. Super Deluxe Edition (2-disc set plus the DVD, 4 LPs and a replica of Pearl Jam's original demo cassette)

Pre-sale of the super deluxe edition has begun at the Pearl Jam website, and more info on each package's goodies is available there too. The remastered version of Ten hits stands March 29 on Virgin Records.
