If Ronnie Wood of Faces/Rolling Stones fame is to believed, it looks like the long rumored Faces reunion has finally come together. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Wood confirmed that the group was prepping for a new tour, which would be the band's first since 1974.
"We had a few fantastic rehearsals last week and we’re ready to go... We just have to sort out when and where and drop all of the management egos and just do what we can. We know we can do it. It’s just a matter of getting everyone’s availability sometime next year.”
Wood told Rolling Stone that
the band is shooting for a tour sometime in 2009, and the early word is
that Rod Stewart's bassist, Conrad Korsch, is set to replace Ronnie Lane who passed away in 1997.
Before
we go any further, it's important to note that no dates have been set,
no schedules have been made, and no ridiculous riders have been drawn
up. There hasn't been a peep from Rod Stewart or any of the other band
members, and we haven't even received the standard all-caps publicist
e-mail that usually comes along with announcements like these. All
we're going on is Ron Wood's word, and last we heard, Ronnie was entering rehab for the seventh (!) time.
So we're going to stop short of going whole-hog and declaring this
Faces reunion a done deal. Not to mention, we're still a little sore
about the Jackson 5 reunion debacle.
But,
um, stay with us. Wood dropped a couple other juicy details that we're
obligated to mention. The band has a lot of bass players trying to
swing a spot in band's lineup, including Flea from the Red Hot Chili
Peppers. Wait, what? That means
that there's a possibility that we might see Flea on stage with Rod
Stewart (!!) in the near future. Wood also mentioned that Stewart was pushing him to write some new
music for the reunion. While that's all well and good, we just want to
hear the guys do their version of "Maybe I'm Amazed."
