Zero Boys' Vicious Circle, History Of get reissue

By the early '80s, hardcore punk was exploding out of D.C. and Southern California. It had made its way to New York in the form of Reagan Youth, Agnostic Front and a pre-hip-hop Beastie Boys. In San Francisco there were Dead Kennedys; in Detroit, Degenerates; in Austin, Dicks.

And in Indianapolis, Ind. there were Zero Boys, whose 1982 debut Vicious Circle still stands as a masterpiece of the genre: breakneck-paced, '80s-hating, apocalyptic and apoplectic punk rock. The band back then was so tight that they recorded the album in just four hours over two days, live-to-tape.

Vicious Circle has been reissued before—in 1988 on Toxic Shock, then in 2000 on Lookout!—and now gets another (possibly) final home on Secretly Canadian. Zero Boys' post-breakup cassette, History Of, will get CD treatment as well, landing in local record stores along with Vicious on their shared release day of Feb. 3.

Chances seem good for the band to reform again (they did in 2002, as well) and go on tour. Don't miss 'em—when the Zero Boys play, all potential energy goes kinetic. Check back for dates.
