Akron/Family set dates for new album, tour

Even though one member left the fold in late 2007, the multi-instrumentalist experimentalist rockers of Akron/Family are back and ready to make 2009 their year. That means a new album, due May 5, and an extensive coast-to-coast tour that includes a pit stop in Austin for South by Southwest in March.

The album, entitled Set ‘Em Wild, Set ‘Em Free, is the group's first as a trio and fourth overall. To generate buzz for the record, the band will be playing smaller, more intimate venues in March, often for multiple dates in the same city. There, fans will be privy to most of the album's new tunes.

More information on the record is forthcoming, but until then, the tour dates:
