After a 2008 chock-full of accolades and action, BLK JKS are probably most proud of placing second in the running for Paste's favorite band without a vowel in their name. But the South African group's recent signing to Secretly Canadian must feel pretty good as well.
Frontman Mpuni Mcata is just happy to have a home. In a July
Billboard interview, he seemed to doubt finding a label that would fit the band. "I guess thus far we've remained unsigned because we haven't heard from a record label that shares our views," he said. "And seeing as we're not willing to compromise as much as people who are putting in more money than spirit and energy would have us do, we've decided to swim our way."
Problem solved. On March 10, the boys and girls at the Secret headquarters in Bloomington, Indiana label will send BLK JKS into the world of redux, re-releasing a re-mastered and re-sequenced
Mystery EP.
