As previously reported, Lil Wayne is releasing a rock album. Now, according to Weezy's Myspace, there is a solid release date for the album titled Rebirth as well as the premiere of the single, "Prom Queen."
"Prom Queen" has already leaked online, but a live performance of the track will stream from Wayne's performance in San Diego tonight (Jan. 27). Rebirth hits stores on April 7.
If you've been keeping score, you may remember Wayne showing some guitar playing chops alongside Kid Rock at the Country Music Awards, proving (kind of) that he's capable of rock. The genre switch might not be a fan favorite, and Wayne has alluded to that, but he'll probably still sell some records as he pushes his creative boundaries.
At the very least, Weezy probably figures this new venture couldn't be any worse than ex-actor Joaquin Phoenix's recent rap disaster.
