Metallica has announced that Guitar Hero: Metallica will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 29, and will follow on Wii and PS2 for early Spring.
The GH franchise previously released an all-Aerosmith game that disappointingly fell close to the GH: Rock the '80s end of the spectrum. While it was the first single-band game featured for GH, the game had too many of Aerosmith's favorite songs from other bands that just didn't rock and not enough hits from the band itself.
GH: Metallica looks to be just the opposite. The game features 28 songs from Metallica, including hits like "Enter Sandman," "Fade to Black," "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Master of Puppets." There are also a number of uptempo Metallica favorites from other bands. Among the 21 additional tracks are songs by Thin Lizzy, System of a Down, Motorhead, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Mastodon and Slayer.
Gamers that downloaded Metallica's recent album Death Magnetic to their Xbox 360 or PS3 can also play the entire album. Wii and PS2 will allow a limited number of these bonus tracks available.
