Neko Case to release Middle Cyclone, whirl across U.S.

Paste cover star Neko Case recently discussed her love of dogs (and bats and horses and goats and milk cows) with editor Josh Jackson, but in Case's—ahem—case, actions will resound just as well as words.

With her latest LP, Middle Cyclone, due out on March 3, Case and her label (ANTI-) crafted a marketing plan that deftly blends a charitable cause with free advertising.

As detailed in an ANTI- blog post, Case and ANTI- promise to donate $5 to Best Friends Animal Society for every blog that reposts "People Got A Lotta Nerve," the freely downloadable first single from Middle Cyclone, by Feb. 3.

The 15-track album features appearances by everyone from M. Ward to Case's frequent songwriting collaborators The Sadies and Kelly Hogan to her fellow Arizonans in Calexico. Once the Cyclone is unleashed, there's no stopping Case and her regular touring band from (metaphorically) leveling towns across America this spring.
