Sophia Loren to star as her mother in TV biopic

She has one of the most famous faces in the movies and her overnight-rise biography is widely known, so it’s not a surprise to learn Sophia Loren has a television biopic in the works. Less a given is that once again, she has elected to play her own mother in it.

My House is Full of Mirrors (La mia casa e piena di specchi) is the tentative title of the project, to be split in two parts that will span from Loren’s impoverished childhood to her Academy Award win for Two Women in 1961. Loren will play her mother, who had dreams of becoming an actress but was forbidden by her family. She chewed the same part in an old-school 1980 made-for-TV biopic, Sophia Loren: Her Own Story.

Loren, meanwhile, also has a part in Rob Marshall’s Nine, the Chicago director’s film adaptation of a musical based on Fellini’s . The movie will co-star Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz and Nicole Kidman and is due out this Thanksgiving.
