The Wonder Years writer pens '80s-based pilot

Oh, The Wonder Years—so cute, so seminal. So how about a sister series for those of us who call the '80s our first decade?

Oh, right, Freaks and Geeks. Well, what's one more? So says NBC, which has ordered a similar pilot penned by Bob Brush, a writer on The Wonder Years. Called Lost in the '80s, the proposed series is also pitched as "Fast Times at Ridgemont High meets The Ice Storm," which, if you've seen those movies, doesn't make much sense. The implication, we suppose, is that the series will take its dramatic elements more seriously than the average nostalgia trip.

To be directed by P.J. Hogan, known for My Best Friend's Wedding, the pilot (and eventual series) has no air date yet.
