Afro Samurai: The Game, based on an anime series featuring the voice of Samuel L. Jackson as the Hendrix-resembling, tough-as-nails samurai, was released as a PS3 title on Jan. 27.
All of the voice talent from the Anime returns for the gaming version of the story. Half the fun of the game-play will be hearing Samuel L. Jackson's smack-talk as you rip through hordes of opponents from angry monks, to a silent fighter wearing a stuffed bear head with innocuously beady eyes. Developers have stated that the voice actors may have more lines in the game than the original movie.
The game should be consolation for any Jackson fans upset by the recent news that he may not appear as Nick Fury in the Marvel franchise due to Marvel low-balling him with an offer of $250,000 for his appearance in Iron Man 2.
Afro Samurai: Resurrection also premiered on Spike TV Feb. 3. In addition to Jackson, this sequel to the original anime features the voice of Lucy Liu and the music of Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.
