Benicio Del Toro to discuss Springsteen on Sirius radio

Of all the names submitted for fevered recognition this time of year, one that has shown up puzzlingly few times is Benicio Del Toro, who carries Steven Soderbergh’s Che flatly on his shoulders. Although recent attempts to mine the famously severe actor’s mind haven’t gone especially well, Sirius XM Radio will give it another shot with an interview to air Friday at 6 p.m. Eastern on its E Street channel.

As that might imply, the talk will focus on Del Toro’s Springsteen fandom, including a paramount 1984 concert in Philadelphia and how Springsteen’s music helped him get through the shoot for Che, in which there's rarely a scene he doesn’t dominate. The interview will encore at midnight Friday (early Saturday) and 8 a.m. Saturday.

Che is now in very limited release in its original roadshow version, which splits the 257-minute movie into two parts of a little more than two hours each, separated by an intermission. Less adventurous viewers can see it at home through IFC OnDemand, available with Comcast cable service.
