That David Lynch and Werner Herzog collaboration we reported on roughly nine months ago, the digitally-shot, guerilla-style film called My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, seems to have a full cast now. You know what this means: it’s actually getting closer to reality. Cinephiles, is this blowing your mind?
Herzog has also signed on to direct a remake of Bad Lieutenant, a film about a crooked cop (the NC-17 rated original was made famous by star Harvey Keitel’s full-frontal nudity). Cinematical has stated that Herzog produced the 2006 remake The Wicker Man, starring Nicolas Cage. If this is the case, Herzog’s name may have been excised from the credits, and for good reason. If at all possible, please take a moment to watch this brief recap of that classically bad film.
The collaboration between Lynch and Herzog is on a script written by Lynch and Herbert Golder. Eric Basset (Inland Empire) will produce with Lynch attached as executive producer. Herzog is set to direct. The cast includes some very familiar names already: Brad Dourif, Michael Pena, Bill Cobbs, Michael Shannon, Chloe Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Grace Zabriskie and Udo Kier.
My Son is based on the true story of a man from San Diego who has a series of mystifying experiences that ultimately lead up to him killing his mother with a sword (!!!).
