Johnny Depp sure is keeping the company of a lot of dead people lately. In addition to all the news surrounding his next starring vehicle, the Hunter S. Thompson book-to-film adaptation, The Rum Diary, Depp will lend his voice to a new documentary about The Doors.

The film, When You're Strange, was initially narrated by writer and director Tom DiCillo, but Depp is set to record a new narration for the doc. When You're Strange includes only original footage, spanning from 1966 to 1971, and the film incorporates in-studio and live performance videos. The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and will also be shown during the SXSW film festival as part of the 24 Beats Per Second film series.
