U2 streams No Line on the Horizon on MySpace

More than a week before its release, U2's No Line on the Horizon was put up for streaming in its entirety and in high-quality format on the band's MySpace page. But it was not only the U.S. that enjoyed an early treat; many fans in Australia were able to obtain the release through Getmusic.com.au, a digital store operated by Universal Music. The tracks were taken down shortly after, but not before they spread through various peer-to-peer file sharing networks.

U2 fans have been waiting for No Line on the Horizon, the band's first release since 2004's How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, since the announcement earlier last year that the band had started recording in Morocco. The band did not stay there, however, seeking inspiration everywhere and recording around the world, from Dublin to New York City and London, with long time collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

After rumors of a release date in November 2008, the release was bumped to 2009. U2's Edge updated fans in late November about the tracks in No Line and the meaning of the simple, zen cover. It was not until January 2009 that we finally got a glance of what is to come. The first single, "Get On Your Boots," debuted on U2's website just days after U2 revealed the album's tracklist. In Producer Lanois' upcoming documentary, Here is What it is, fans caught a rare glimpse of the band's recording sessions. The documentary, along with other features, will be available in some of the album releases, including the box set.

Up next for one of the biggest bands in the world, David Letterman. The Irish rock stars will be taking over CBS' Late Night with David Letterman, starting March 2.

But while you wait, check out U2 Live at The Brit Awards 2009, performing "Get On Your Boots"
