HBO picks up black-comedy series Hung

HBO picks up black-comedy series Hung

To be fair, HBO has always tended toward informative names for its series: Entourage, The Sopranos, Sex and the City. But in the case of the network's new black comedy Hung (about an embattled basketball coach who is, um, naturally gifted elsewhere), the double-entendre seems perhaps a little extreme.

But it’s also pretty funny. The series, which will star Thomas Jane as the coach and Anne Heche as his ex-wife, just landed a 10-episode order. It was created by Dmitry Lipkin and Colette Burson in cooperation with director Alexander Payne (Sideways).

Set to premiere this summer, the show is one of several HBO has acquired in its marathon to find new flagship series.
