Honey-voiced singer/actress Mandy Moore is prepping to drop her latest album, Amanda Leigh, on May 26 through Storefront Albums, a partnership with RED Music.
Paste gave Moore some love for her last record, Wild Hope, a foray into indie-land featuring collaborations with Rachael Yamagata, Lori McKenna and husband/wife duo The Weepies. We're hopeful that Amanda Leigh (which is Moore's birth name) will feature some of the same organic, alt.country influences as Wild Hope. The former teeny-bopper co-wrote the album with Mike Viola and recorded it in engineer Ducky Carlisle's basement studio. Inara George of The Bird and the Bee and McKenna also hold writing credits on the album. Clavinets, farsifas and wurlitzers add harmonic richness to the mix.
But there's a significant difference between these two albums. While Wild Hope was penned to help a heartbroken Moore get over former boyfriend, Zach Braff, Amanda Leigh comes at a brighter time in her love life. If you don't know what we're talking about, you've probably been hibernating in a cave somewhere for the last few weeks. Or, you know, maybe you don't follow celebrity gossip. Either way.

Mike Viola hooked this album UP.
I love her new album – according to Mandy, this album is her bravest, most intimate project to date.
Check out this performance of some of my favorites, “Nothing Everything” and “Love To Love Me Back,” and others!
