According to Variety, Emily Blunt and Jason Segel will join Jack Black in Lilliput for Rob Letterman's Gulliver's Travels. Black will play Lemuel Gulliver, a travel writer who ends up in the island of Lilliput, an island populated by tiny people, after being sent on assignment to the Bermuda Triangle.
Segel will be playing Gulliver's best friend, Horatio, and Blunt will
play a Lilliputian princess as well as Gulliver's love interest. The movie will depart from author Jonathan Swift's original political commentary and will follow the story plot loosely, even adding a romantic interest.
The news of Emily Blunt possibly joining Gulliver's Travels comes as a surprise since she was rumored to begin shooting Iron Man 2 this Spring. Blunt was reportedly cast to play Natasha Romanoff, a Soviet super spy that doubles as the Black Widow, one of Tony Stark's arch-nemeses with a special knack for high-tech weaponry. Due to scheduling conflicts between the two movies, negotiations are currently being made for her to be able to participate in both projects simultaneously.
