As divided reviews roll in for Watchmen, director Zack Snyder has revealed that should the movie open to sizable numbers, a 190-minute director’s cut might screen in L.A. and New York theaters—and that regardless of the movie’s fortunes a couple weekends from now, the longer version will be available in some format by July.
He said the longer version is “considerably more violent” than the
movie that will open March 6, which is apparently cut at 163
minutes. There had been rumors through the production that a version
of well over four hours also exists.
