Dakota Fanning will join Kristen Stewart (Twilight) in The Runaways, the fledgling biopic of the all-girl rock band that rose to fame and shuttered in the second half of the '70s.
Fanning will play lead singer Cheri Currie in the movie, Variety
reports, while Stewart is on board as Joan Jett. Fanning and Stewart
will juggle similar commitments in the near future since Fanning also just picked up a supporting part in New Moon, the sequel to
Twilight due later this year.
The script by Floria Sigismondi (who also plans to direct) doesn’t have
the best word of mouth, but if the cast continues to shape up as it has,
expect a major push when the movie opens next year.
