David Lynch turns enough heads just by being David Lynch (Twitter also helps these days), but his emphatic devotion to “transcendental meditation” over the years has occasionally threatened to take him from the king of good-weird to just weird.
It would seem Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eddie Vedder and Moby don’t share those concerns, because they’ve all agreed to
perform at a benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation for
Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. (Eh, at least it mentions world peace, right?)
Courtesy of Idolator, we can report that anyone with $25,000 sitting
around can get a pretty sweet concert and after-party package. The concert is April 4 in New York.

Exucse me, we scarved and feeble indie hipsters find no irony in David Lynch. It's not uncool enough for us to embrace. Meditiation would probably yank us out of this pathetic scene BUT WE DON'T WANT TO CHANGE! (scenes are so FUN!) How dare he nab McCartney... that's OUR hero...
...?
The upcoming McCartney/Lynch Concert to benefit the David Lynch Foundation's will raise funds to teach Transcendental Meditation in the public schools.
Many critics feel this is a clear Church/State violation because of the religious trappings of Transcendental Meditation.
A group of critics, including myself, have organized a free web event to discuss this controversy. You may be interested in attending.
