Ira Glass is doing it again. The spectacled This American Life host/producer is planning to help adapt the short story "Wenceslas Square," which aired on the show last summer, for the big screen.
This will be the first film produced by This American Life itself, though Glass helped produce Unaccompanied Minors, a children's movie about kids from broken families. Although Minors received lukewarm reviews, promising things are brewing for Glass' new film. Endgame Entertainment will lend a helping hand this time around and Christopher Markus and Steephen McFreely, two of the Chronicles of Narnia writers, will pen the screenplay.
"Wenceslas Square" is a short story written by Arthur Phillips, which takes place in Czechoslovakia at the end of the Cold War. It was first published in a collection of essays and fiction called Wild East: Stories from the Last Frontier.

Ira Glass isn't "helming" this film, is he? In Variety slanguage, that means he's directing it. But Variety itself says he'll co-produce.
Good point, Rob. That word wasn't the most clear, perhaps. Fixed, thanks!
