Jay Reatard's Shattered Records resurrected by Matador

Jay Reatard is no stranger to keeping busy. The prolific Memphis-based rock n' roller has been on the run since he burst onto the punk scene years ago, touring and making what seems like an endless stream of music. It appears that 2009 won't be much of cakewalk either, what with a new full-length coming out this summer and Matador resurrecting his Shattered Records imprint.

The label that brought you some of the best in lo-fi and punk music back in the mid-'00s is now going to be releasing a slew of new 7" from bands including Box Elders, Cheap Time, Cola Freaks and the Barbaras (many of which appeared on Reatard's 2008 best-of list). According to Brooklyn Vegan, Reatard's label, Matador, along with Goner Records will distribute the releases.
