Mos Def to drop The Ecstatic in June

After the veritable avalanche of big-name hip-hop releases 2008 saw, 2009 has been a remarkably quieter year on the beats-and-verses front (not counting The-Dream's excellent Love vs. Money.) Dr. Dre, Eminem and Rakim all have albums tentatively in the works for '09, and DOOM's latest comes tomorrow, but rapper/actor/band geek Mos Def has just set down a solid release date of June 9 for his upcoming album The Ecstatic.

As we learned via press release, two tracks from the album, "Life in Marvelous Times" and "Quiet Dog Bite Hard," are available right now on Mos Def's MySpace for your listening pleasure and can be snagged on iTunes as well.

More details on the album and an upcoming U.S. tour are to follow. The Ecstatic is out June 9 on Downtown Records.
