Remember the double-disc album the Bravery did, The Sun and The Moon, where the band released a set of songs on the first disc and redid them on the second? That was kind of cool, kind of fun. Neil Young has tried the same thing with his most recent video releases, but apparently doesn't understand that in order to pull this off, it's important that the variation be, well, a variation. His videos for "Johnny Magic" are exceptionally similar.
Then again, Neil does what Neil wants, and there's something to be said for that. The videos are in support of his upcoming album, Fork in the Road, to be released on April 7. In recent years, Young has become involved in developing alternative fuels. Both videos feature a single-take, rear-view mirror shot of Young (looking, appropriately, a little like Meat Loaf) singing the lyrics as he drives along in his 1959 Lincoln Continental, which is part of the LINCVOLT project.
