Pete Yorn's new album going Back and Forth in June

It seems that Pete Yorn needed a change. After spending six years recording his last three albums for a semi-conceptual trilogy, the singer/songwriter understandably wanted to take some time off and overhaul his recording process.

So in an attempt to buck his self-made traditions, Yorn packed up and left the sunny beaches of Los Angeles for a semi-bustling city in Middle America back in 2008. Yorn's time in Omaha was well spent, though. After spending two months holed up in producer Mike Mogis' studio, the singer/songwriter emerged with 10 songs for his upcoming album, Back and Forth

The album, his first in three years, is an apparent departure from Yorn's previous work, on which he played most of the instruments. This time around he enlisted the help of seasoned indie rockers including drummer Joey Waronker (Beck), pianist/arranger Nate Wolcott (Bright Eyes), guitarist Jonny Polonsky, bassist Joe Karnes (John Cale) and backing vocalist Orenda Fink (Azure Ray).

Back and Forth will be released on June 23 via Columbia. Yorn plans to tour following the release.

Back and Forth tracklisting:

1. Don't Wanna Cry
2. Paradise Cove
3. Close
4. Social Development
5. Shotgun
6. Last Summer
7. Thinking of You
8. Country
9. Four Years
10. Long Time
