Simon Beaufoy, who won an Oscar for his Slumdog Millionaire screenplay earlier this year, has signed on to pen the DreamWorks Animation comedy Truckers.
Little is known about the project, which is still in early development, but the announcement comes at an
opportune time since DreamWorks had a major hit this past weekend with
Monsters vs. Aliens. As with all future
DreamWorks Animation productions, Truckers will likely be conceived in 3D.
Beaufoy is known for his Brit-flavored scripts for movies like The Full
Monty and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. He also has Leap Year, a
comedy from Anand Tucker (Shopgirl), in the pipeline.
