The follow-up to Causes 1 and the second installment of Waxploitation's ongoing Darfur benefit series, Causes 2 will be released on May 5. The album features rare tracks by Devendra Banhart, My Morning Jacket, LCD Soundsystem and Gnarls Barkley.
In 2007, Waxploitation established the Causes benefit-album series to bring attention to Darfur and raise money for the conflict victims. Causes 1 included tracks from Animal Collective, The Cure, The Shins, The Black Keys, amongst others, and it raised over $80,000 for three non-profits: Doctors Without Borders, Human Rights Watch and Oxfam America.According to the Waxploitation site, estimates of the number of people killed by the conflict in
Darfur vary widely from 200,000 to 400,000. More than two million people have fled their homes because of the
fighting, and four million are in dire need of humanitarian assistance. All of the profits from album sales go to help the Darfur victims. To pre-order your copy and help the Darfur victims, click here.
