Jack Bauer is pitiful.
That is, the biological agent he was exposed to is making him a sad mess. Shaking in the field, having seizures, repeating himself. Jack, swallow your pride and let your daughter help you. What a pathetic display when the man who saved the world (at least) six times knows his friend Tony Almeida has sold out everyone and can only lie on the ground in seizure mode. Tony's standing at his feet when authorities and medics run over, clueless (no thanks to Jack) that a traitor is in their midst. How frustrating.
And while we're on the subject of the Bauers, what is up with Kim not telling her dying father she's married with a kid (Teri, named after Kim's mother)? Because she doesn't want to make the whole death thing more difficult for him, apparently, but her presence reeks of insincerity. Yeah, she goes through the motions of shedding the tears and appearing somewhat distraught about losing her one and only parent. It seems, however, she could do a better job at mourning or talking the hard-headed Jack into at least trying the treatment. Maybe she still has a bit of a chip on her shoulder.
Meanwhile, as Renee is speaking to Janis over the phone, she tells her someone needs to notify Larry's ex-wife about his death, and that it shouldn't be her, Renee, who does it. In steps our favorite FBI redhead as "the other woman." Not much else to report on that, but we're still awaiting that Renee/Jack moment.
Who are Tony's cronies? We have the Starkwood guy from last week we already knew Tony was working with, who in this hour lures FBI into a C-4-rigged apartment complex to create a diversion for his escape. Then, we have the sly woman impersonating Jonas Hodges' lawyer. She visits her disgraced, fake client in his cell to give him some advice: Take the red pill. No wake-up-and-everything's-like-it-was blue pill. Just take the red pill, go into cardiac arrest and save your family (and honor). So, like any self-respectin' sociopath, he does on his way to FBI headquarters.
But according to next week's preview, he survives, and Jack is standing over his hospital bed about to extract info. They keep teasing us with these previews where we think Jack is completely in control, but it's just cut-and-paste Michael Moore-style. And then, Tony kisses the woman who convinces Jonas to commit suicide. Wow, is he the head honcho? Only five hours left to find out.
