Next fall, after 22 years of waiting, all of the Beatles’ studio albums will be released as remastered editions.
Reportedly, engineers took four years to complete the remastering at London’s Abbey Road Studios, using a combination of new technology and vintage equipment in an effort to “preserve the authenticity of the original recordings.”
The albums will feature the same track listing and artwork as the originals, but they will also come with expanded booklets including more photos and liner notes. Additionally, each disc will be embedded with a short documentary that tells the story of the album.
The CDs will be offered individually, as well as in packages. One will feature 14 discs with DVDs of the documentaries in a stereo box set. Another set will be called The Beatles in Mono and will feature 10 discs.
Sept. 9, the release date, is already a big day for the surviving Beatles with the release of The Beatles: Rock Band, which Paste reported on earlier.
