Chace Crawford Juggles Footloose Remake, Gossip Girl

Chace Crawford, better known as Gossip Girl's Nate Archibald, recently landed Kevin Bacon's iconic role in the Paramount remake of Footloose. Although he was the first to pirouette his way into the studio after Zac Efron turned down the part, he is now having some issues with his pocket calendar. And though Crawford is determined to go "Dancing in the Streets," Gossip Girl is unwilling to reschedule Season Three, and the overextended star is unsure he can accommodate both.

The Kenny Ortega-directed remake is still in the embryonic stages of production, but Crawford has his heart set on playing the angst-filled, light-heeled Ren McCormack. Brooding youth are Crawford's forte, judging by his furrow-browed portrayal of Nate, but he doesn't do much dancing on the blogging upper east side, which would be an interesting development for the young actor.

He thinks so too. An anonymous source reportedly told E! Online, "Chace may be hiring a big-league attorney to come in and figure out how to make it work."

But even if he can make it work, it'll be tough for him to beat Flight of the Conchords' Brett in his much-YouTubed angry dance.
