As you may remember, there was controversy some months ago about whether the recently-name-changed DOOM was actually performing at his shows. In a development that should surprise precisely no one, what we all suspected has finally been confirmed: DOOM wasn't there.
In a recent interview with HipHopDX, he was asked about the impostor shows and came clean, in his usually roundabout way:
"Alright. Here’s how I look at it, because the wording in there is kinda
funny. 'Impostor.' Impostor would imply that the character. I liken it
to this: I’m a director as well as a writer. I choose different
characters, I choose their direction and where I want to put them. So
who I choose to put as the character is up to me. The character that I hired, he got paid for it. There’s no impostor."
So there you have it: DOOM is a regular Stanley Kubrick, and caveat emptor to all those going to his shows. We guess this means that the rumored Impostor project he had been working on isn't actually happening, which is a shame, because that would have been pretty brilliant had he pulled it off.
