Jayhawks reunite for two shows this summer
It's been quite some time since the powerhouse alt-country group Jayhawks has played together on U.S. turf. But as Billboard reports, the band has reunited their mid-'90s line-up for a July 10 performance at the Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis, Minn. They are also booked for the Primavira Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain on May 30.
Though this incarnation of the band hasn't regularly played together since co-leader Mark Olson left the group following its 1995 tour for Tomorrow the Green Grass, Olson and fellow writer Gary Louris released a new acoustic album, Ready for the Flood, earlier this year.
The two are currently on tour in support of Ready for the Flood, but that doesn't mean they've forgotten about the Jayhawks:
"Our approach right now is to look forward. Olson and I have a record out, we're going to record another, maybe make solo records and do the Jayhawks, occasionally," Louris told Billboard.com. "I think the plan is that we're going to play festivals, next year we're hoping to play Bonnaroo and things like that. We'll see if it grows from there."
Louris and Olson tour dates:
