New La's Album Might Happen, Might Involve Pete Doherty

Who wants to work with Pete Doherty? This isn't a rhetorical question: There is someone out there, apparently, who wants to collaborate with the troubled ex-Libertines, current Babyshambles frontman—and strangely, brave soul is none other than Lee Mavers, the frontman of The La's.

Mavers supposedly wants to do a followup to The La's 1990 debut with Babyshambles as his backup band, according to drummer Adam Ficek, breaking the news in an interview with the NME.

Mavers, the songsmith behind the 1990 hit "There She Goes," was known for his staunch perfectionism, which may have been the reason  the La's only released one album. So it's a bit suprising that he now wants to work with a guy who rivals Amy Winehouse in OMG! British tabloid stories. There's the drug problems, the car-jacking problems and of course our favorite, the staying-out-of-custody-so-he-can-make-a-record problems. But Mavers did join Doherty onstage during one evening of the latter's recent solo tour, so they must have some musical chemistry.
