If just thinking about the of Italian tragicomedy Life Is Beautiful is enough to make your heart hurt (in a good way, of course), you're in for a treat. Roberto Benigni, the writer, director and actor behind the 1997 film, is making his U.S. debut of his beloved one-man show TuttoDante (roughly translated to Everything About Dante).
In TuttoDante, Benigni brings Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy to life through his animated performance that ties current events to the epic poem. This is no small feat considering the density of Dante's work, but Benigni's been at it for the past three years in Italy and apparently has all but perfected the show. His performances in the U.S. and Canada will be in English except for the final section where he recites the Fifth Canto from The Inferno.
