Well, we're finally reaching the tail end of music festival lineup announcement season. It's a bittersweet moment, of course.
No more wacky message board speculation about who will play Coachella. No more selling spare organs to pay for all of those premium VIP passes. No more "Beastie Boys to headline..." headlines. Sigh... memories.
But, hey, here's a good one to go out on. Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party (July 24 and 25) just unveiled its roster of performing acts, and it's an agreeable foil to the typical music festival lineup.
Start at the top, with the grizzled Sonic Youth making a rare festival bow. Playing second banana is the resurrected Jesus Lizard, which is a pretty sound coup for a smaller festival like this one.
Blatant Atlanta homers that we are, Paste must of course endorse the inclusion of both Deerhunter and the Black Lips further down the bill. ATL, represent!
Other acts of note: The Gossip, The Thermals, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Micachu & The Shapes, The Dutchess and the Duke, Mika Miko and Future of the Left.
Crane your neck slightly to the right and you can read the entire roster at the festival's homepage.
The best part? A two-week early bird sale begins Friday, with a two-day pass for $40 and a one day ticket for $22. No layaway required here, folks.
